🌄 Day 98/365
There’s something so satisfying about my schedule right now. I’m a professional artist all week, as I have been for the last 18 or so years (!) and on the weekends I work at the bar, in service of others, chatting with interesting people, having conversations that aren’t all about art. It’s weirdly cleansing. Most of my life as an artist has been working alone, at home, quietly, except when I would come out of my art cave and have gallery shows. Pretty big extremes. My weekend job at What Ales You has been so strangely fulfilling in such a simple way — it’s not art. It’s human connection. A different type of art, to be sure, but utilizing skills I normally save for performance. It’s nice to remember that yes, I am an artist, but I’m also a person too. 💕
