🌄 Day 78/365
Back to artist-mode today. The sunrises have me in artist-mode for at least part of every day for the next 287 days but I try to take Mondays off between my local weekend job and my true calling, my true nature even, as a dedicated full-time artist. If my doctors didn’t insist, I probably wouldn’t. It’s hard for me to rest. Even on my “day off” I start pulling art out of the closet, onto my table, arranging the pieces I want to work on this week, thinking thinking thinking about what’s next on my creative plate. I have to remind myself to step back and breathe. Give my brain space to recoup. It’s not easy, but Maui does help me relax and feel very easy breezy and in the flow. There’s no drive and hustle to ACHIEVE like I felt in Southern California. It was a lot of pressure, in retrospect, pressure I put on myself and dutifully carried around with me. I couldn’t relax. Maui is healing that unhealthy drive within me, reminding me to live as well as work.
I smile every morning now. That rarely happened in California.
This sunrise was captured in Kihei, Maui at 6:12am on the 13th of September, 2022.
