Day 73 • The 8th of September

FINALLY just this week I have seen a lot of progress regarding my health and, subsequently, my work. I’m sleeping better, and falling asleep earlier. I’m staying awake after sunrise. I paint all day long. I don’t want to jinx it, but I do want to acknowledge my successes, which in this case are huge for me. I thought it would take at least two years to adjust to our new Hawaii life but I feel so at home already (almost 20 months in), like I’ve been here for years. In all ways, we are so much happier in Maui. (Okay, we do miss our friends a bit — come to Maui!) I hadn’t realized how bitter and angry and dark I’d grown living somewhere we hated for so long. But the darkness has given way to light. I am happy, right now, right where I am. What more can anyone ask for?
