🌄 Day 66/365
To answer a common question I’ve gotten recently — Well of course I’ve started painting the sunrises. How can I help it? Being inundated with these colors every morning, my creative mind can only take so much. Each one is so subtlety but distinctly different from the rest. The colors in the sky might look very similar to yesterday, or the day before, or last week, but they’re layered in a brand new way so as to be unique. They create new colors within the layering, new shifts in variation so that no two sunrises could possibly be alike. I’ve always made colorful work but I’m learning so much about blending and layering gradients in a way I’ve never before paid attention. Each new shade of pink, or blue, or orange, or purple is a revelation for an artist like me. I didn’t realize after 18 years of focused painting, I’d still have so much to learn about color. Maybe my eyes are just opening wider.
