🌄 Day 343/365
Regarding the ongoing debate in the art world about Artificial Intelligence, it’s important to remember that the art is not merely the 2D image that gets posted online. Sure, robots can make pretty pictures but it skips the entire reason why artists are special. Art is about the life experiences of each artist, from the moment they were born until the minute before art is made. The whole purpose of the sunrise project is specifically choosing the angles and framing that speaks to me, in the moment, that I’m present in person for. I *could* ask a robot to create a sky for me but that misses the entire point of the art. My choice is what makes me an artist. AI is not standing outside in the cool morning air, listening to the roosters crow, waiting for the exact combination of color and light that I deem worthy, after a sleepless night of pondering my life. It’s not present in that thin space of the natural and spiritual worlds in which I wait. It cannot replicate my soul. It cannot view the universe through my eyes and heart. This is where real art emerges. Only Artists can convey such things.
