🌄 Day 321/365
Happy Mother’s Day, out there. 💐
The clouds have parted later in the day, fittingly, but at sunrise the sky matched my mood. Dark. Depressed. Deeply disappointed in people. As the saying goes, when people show you who they are, believe them.
I’m trying to cultivate compassion for those who lack it. The phenomenon baffles me, to be honest. Disagree with someone, sure, but first and foremost have compassion. If you know someone well, show compassion. If you only know them at the surface level, show compassion. If you know nothing about what a person is going through, my god, show compassion. Anything short of this is sad and tragic to me. But never, ever allow yourself to be subjected to someone who does not show you compassion. No matter what. Life is hard enough without people making it harder. Do not waste time on the intentionally ignorant.
My temper runs hot when faced with such people. I seek to feel compassion toward them, while keeping my distance. Every tough situation is an opportunity for learning. I’m trying to learn what true friendship means, and surround myself with those who are capable of it.
