🌄 Day 258/365
Whoa. Because the time jumped forward an hour here in California, the sunrise moved up almost an hour from yesterday and it will be half an hour earlier tomorrow in Hawaii (which thankfully doesn’t not change from standard time to daylight savings.)
I just go with what is, wherever I am.
Last night I slept in a house that I’ve lived in before. My friend’s mom’s house, which was essentially my second home all through my 20s, even when I wasn’t living here. I have so many memories of being here. I was always here. This was the hub of our group of friends at the time. It often served as a small dormitory for several of our friends. It’s on a small lake that Colin and I would paddle around, sometimes drunkenly late at night. We would occasionally get attacked by angry geese here. And it’s called Lake Forest for a reason — it is surrounded by trees. Trees everywhere. If I had more energy or was in a more chipper mood after this week, I’d probably be more excited, but right now all I can muster is extreme gratitude. Not just for giving me a safe place to sleep last night, but for being a safe place when I was so much younger and needed it almost every day. 🙏
My mom was released from the hospital yesterday.
Tonight I will sleep in my own bed in Maui. I feel a little nervous about leaving but I have to return home at some point. Home. Home is Maui now. I wasn’t sure when it would crossover to feeling that way, but it has.
This sunrise was captured in Lake Forest, California at 7:05am on the 12th of March, 2023.
