So many thoughts. I certainly didn’t expect to be waking up in Orange County today when going about my life on Monday morning in Maui. Then I got the call, the kind of call they only have with the next of kin. “Your mom coded on the table” was the moment everything changed. That’s a phrase that will stick with me.
Travel all day yesterday, I got in around 10pm. I’ll head over to see my mom today. She’s out of the ICU and talking, sounding bored and antsy to get home even, which is a definite sign that she’s feeling better/normal again. For someone who flatlined on the table for several minutes two days ago, this is quite an improvement.
Happy to see friends (all of whom are sponsoring my travels in some capacity) and happy to be there for my mom, even if just for a couple of days.
I’ve only been here for 8 hours and I already miss my island life.
