🌄 Day 245/365
I guess I really am “nearing” the end of this project. 120 days left, which granted is a lot, but the days are quickly winding down and I need to start thinking about what’s in store for the end of this project. A book? A show? One book for photos, another for my daily diary that went along with it? It’s turned into a very special project and I want to make sure it has its due. It deserves it. I’m very touched that people latched onto this project like they have. There’s something very universal about it, a new dawn for all of us. I think, as a society, we’re craving that. For those of us on the island, it’s almost like sports team pride. “Yeah! Go Kihei! That’s our sunrise!” I’m proud of every single one, every single day. Never in my life have I marked time in this way. Even the year-long moon project I started in 2020 could be planned out. I knew ahead of time what phase the moon would be in. This is an unplanned surprise every morning. I can’t predict anything about it. I have to wait and see and be present. It’s required a lot of patience, and holy heck — waking up at sunrise? Me? For a year? That definitely deserves some sort of celebration. I can’t wait to see what it becomes.
This sunrise was captured in Kihei, Maui at 6:46am on the 27th of February, 2023.
