🌄 Day 194/365

The bar I’ve been working at is sort of magical to the people who go there, as it was (and is!) to me when we first started leaving the house in 2021 and found the chillest little bar with the best patio I’ve seen on the island. We spent many months, most of the year, on that patio before venturing inside. Once we did we started making friends both with the staff (who were always lovely to us) and the patrons, whom I adore. It really is our own little island version of Cheers (which we recently started watching because it makes a lot more sense when I’m not 4 years old and have now worked at a bar.) I do know everybody’s name. They know mine. It’s so warm and welcoming to have a place like that. I never realized that before. Now, 8 months after we started working there, I regard it as one of the foundational periods of my life. It’s been such a wonderful (and difficult) learning experience and I’m so grateful for the many people I’ve met and befriended through this time. We all regard this bar as special and want to protect it and nurture it. That’s part of its undeniable magic. It might not last forever, but I’m so grateful for the chance to be a part of it. I don’t know why we initially stumbled across such a place but I now regard it as a result of guidance and support from the island. It brought us there. It knew we needed it. And, as our time there winds down, I have such gratitude for the things it has taught me. I will be forever altered and evolved from this experience. It has made me a better person, and, once I return to it, a better artist. It’s been a long time since I’ve done anything but art. This magical interlude at the bar has given me an entirely new perspective on life. If that isn’t something fated and beautiful, I don’t know what is.
