Health is my big focus for 2023. I want to feel strong again. I miss having muscles. I miss feeling sturdy on my feet. Prior to May of 2022, when I started helping out at a bar and quickly got Covid, I had finally put a little weight on again, more than I had before. I was at my “fighting weight”, I liked to call it. Since then it’s all melted away and I’m back to being willowy and thin, as is my usual form. I like being at “fighting weight.” I’m stronger and have more energy. But it’s been a struggle my entire life, helped along by the fact that my appetite has always been so slight. The only time I’ve eaten well and regularly was 1) when I was doing hand to hand combat training for 10 hours a week and 2) the year I moved to Hawaii. Otherwise I generally have no appetite. There are deeper reasons for this, of course, extending back to when I was a toddler. But I’m going to get past those reasons and become my healthiest self again. I am very much looking forward to it.
