It’s windy and (relatively) chilly out, weather that’s not exactly fun to be out in. Not rainy or stormy, but the kind of wind that will pelt your eyes with sand and your head with giant seed pods. (Have you seen the seed pods in Hawaii? They’re gigantic. It’s like getting smacked in the head by a very skinny coconut.) Even the roosters hunker down and keep quiet. A few days ago there was a massive lightning storm over the volcano, lighting the clouds up purple and filling the darkness with electric bolts in all directions. The sky puts on all sorts of shows here. It feels alive.
