Day 109 • The 14th of October

I am just really enjoying the volcano right now. This is as much as I can see from my 2nd story balcony. (I can see the top too, where the telescopes are, but I prefer the slope in photos.) Maybe the mountain will call me up there soon. Maybe just a little ways, maybe not all the way to the top. I haven’t put on my backpack and hiking shoes in a while. It’s curious (to me) that I miss it. I wasn’t interested in California. But Maui changes you. According to those who’ve lived here a long time, either Maui embraces you and turns you into a better person, or it spits you out.

Grateful that I am quite sure it’s the former in this case. I feel myself becoming a better human every day.
