🌄 Day 364/365
We truly ran the gamut of possibilities as far as what to expect every morning. Especially that we can’t expect anything. I like the unpredictability of that, it feels like real life. We’ve seen quite a few spectacular skies — a fact I feel personally grateful for. I witnessed them with my own eyes. It’s taught me that the morning is bright and that a new dawn is something to look forward to. While it may not have turned me into a morning person, I have a more profound appreciation for sunrise than I ever imagined possible. Never before would I have dreamed of seeing so many morning skies, all in a row, showing me the way each day moves and breathes.
I have walked down many dark hallways, spent many moments alone in the space before light. I’ve had a lot of quiet time to think. Except for the roosters and the wind, the sunrises have mostly felt like mine. I feel the weight of exhaustion, the heaviness of a year spent awake. Sacred space is weighty. Like climbing a mountain, though I remain at sea level. I’ve learned the metaphor well. Going forward I will value every possibility to see it again, though I will cherish the opportunity to remain unconscious. I’ve earned that perspective.
One day left.
