🌄 Day 342/365
Wow. This was a really weird one. Gorgeous, yes, shocking even, sure, but it changed so much and so often I could have picked one of a hundred different views of the sky between first light (at 5:19) and actual sunrise (5:44.) A kaleidoscope sky. Ultimately I went with the one that had the most varied color (which happened around 5:30.) There was no time to look away, a fitting conclusion to a night of no sleep, staring at the darkness behind my eyelids. Sometimes I couldn’t tell if my eyes were even closed or not until my watch checked my pulse or whatever and a little light bleeped in my vision. Otherwise it was just darkness and contemplating, waiting for dawn to approach. I was fully awake and ready when my alarm went off. Seeing so much color after hours of nothingness almost felt like it was intended just for me, a personal message from the sky. Was I imagining it? Had I actually fallen asleep and this was a dream? Sky, can you hear me? Do you see me? Were you listening to my thoughts?
Yep. Definitely the insomnia talking.
This sunrise was captured in KÄ«hei, Maui at 5:44am on the 4th of June, 2023.
