🌄 Day 328/365

Today a group of us ventured through the jungle and across the rocks while it was still dark. We didn’t want to miss a moment of the sky brightening up, which happens earlier on the east side without the volcano blocking it. (That means we woke up at 430am and all used our phone flashlights to see our way there.) At first I thought the rain would drown out the sunrise but a little patience brought out the rays and the color. The sun finally broke through.

One thing that’s hugely important to me in life is cultivating amazing experiences. I want to do and see things that are out of the norm and otherwise incredible. It’s not just the artist in me, although that’s connected, it’s who I’ve always been and who I want to become. I don’t want fancy cars or fancy houses or fancy shoes and purses. I want to experience beautiful, life-changing moments. Thin places. Moments where the natural world and the spiritual world intersect.

What more to say? I’m exhausted. I went to two beaches I’d never been to before and stayed in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Nothing fancy, just real and perfect. Bunk beds and shared bathrooms, sure, but also delicious home-cooked food, interesting conversations, kind people, and epic scenery. My body is sunburned and salty, and my mind is renewed. Hāna, you’ve been glorious. I’d like to come back. Thanks to Colin, Reed, Savannah, CariAnn, Chomps, Noelle, Josiah, Jaylynn, and Aiyannah for making the experience extra special. ❤️
