Today is a horrible day for many of the people I’ve grown to care about this year. An entire year gone without a certain, special, extraordinary light. I benefit from her afterglow, the magical way her ohana connects and bonds people together, turning acquaintances into friends and bars into second homes. It’s been incredible to experience and though I didn’t know her personally, I can’t help but write this through tears. There’s no blessing or upside to this situation, just an awful wake-up call to live life to the fullest and love those around you as hard as you can.
