🌄 Day 344/365

Not much to see today, which I was incredibly grateful for. I got more sleep last night than I have in years. Literally years. I can’t remember the last time I fell asleep before midnight. When we first arrived in Hawaii I was on a good 10-6 schedule, one that I really enjoyed. But that fell apart after a few months and it’s been well over two years ago anyway. Around sunset I started yawning profusely — you know those times when you just can’t stop yawning? One right after another? That was me. Colin even asked if I was okay. I just couldn’t stop yawning. I pushed myself to stay awake for a while but when I realized a couple of hours later that I was falling asleep watching a show, I knew it was time to give in. Why fight it? It was such a rare opportunity. And then I slept and slept and slept. I woke up for sunrise, of course, but the sky seemed to say, “Shhhh… nothing to see here… go back to sleep.” So I did. And I slept and slept some more. Granted, I hadn’t really slept at all the previous two nights so you could argue it was my body catching up. Except my body never elects to “catch up.” I just continue not sleeping well, perpetually. Maybe it was because I ate a big meal? Maybe because I had my tea earlier in the day? Maybe my meds and vitamins are kicking in? Who knows. I hope it continues.

Sunrise or not, sleeping like that was glorious.

P.S. You can baaarely see it up there in the photo, but Jupiter says hello. (Upper right side.)
